We’re starting to see just a little bit more news about the Percy Jackson movie sequel, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. If you recall, the second book was about the quest for the legendary Golden Fleece. The movie is slated to start some filming in Vancouver, British Columbia, this year with a release of March 26, 2013. According to IMDB, the following roles have been cast:

• Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson
• Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase
• Jake Abel as Luke
• Brandon T. Jackson as Grover Underwood

A couple of interesting things:

• The first Percy Jackson movie was released in 2010. These days, 3 years is a long time for a sequel to what is essentially a kids’ movie.
• How is Logan Lerman (who is already 20) going to continue to pull off such a young role? The first movie was already changed from the book to make Percy older. Now he is going to be significantly older than both the book and the first movie.

Although the Percy Jackson spinoff series The Heroes of Olympus does not focus on Percy Jackson, Rick Riordan seems to be teasing us that Percy just might be back in the second installment of the book, The Son of Neptune. Check out the video below where Riordan talks about the plot of The Son of Neptune, including clues about finding out what happened to Percy and why he did not return to Camp Half Blood.

The Son of Neptune is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be released on October 4, 2011.

Although the Percy Jackson movie was not a huge blockbuster in the United States, a loyal following of the Percy Jackson book series combined with strong international review from the movie are combining to fuel a Percy Jackson movie sequel.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters” is due to start filming this summer (2011). Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are currently working on writing the script.

When will the Percy Jackson movie sequel be released? It is too early to know right now, but the Internet Movie Database is showing either 2012 or 2013.

It’s Percy Jackson meets Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Sort of. A new comic called Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Lightning Thief: The Graphic Novel was just released this week. The hardcover book is 128 pages and is aimed at kids age 9-12. However, if it is like the original book, it will likely appeal to kids older than that as well.

The story is the same as the book and the movie adaptation, but it is now in a different form that might be more appealing to kids who are not as strong of readers or who enjoy the visuals of a graphic novel more than regular text. We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the release date of the new Percy Jackson Series. Rick Riordan’s new series of Camp Half-Blood adventures is called “The Heroes of Olympus” and the first book in that series will be “The Lost Hero.” “The Lost Hero” is set to release on October 12, 2010. However, you ca actually pre-order it now to get it a lower price.

The first book in the new Camp Half-Blood Series “The Heroes of Olympus” is now available for pre-order. The book is going to be called “Lost Hero” and we have already gotten a sneak peak at it through the Borders website. It looks like although the series will not revolve around Percy Jackson, he will at least be involved in the plot.

The new Percy Jackson series is coming! Disney-Hyperion has announced a new series of Camp Half-Blood adventures called “The Heroes of Olympus.” We don’t know yet which characters from the Percy Jackson series will be in it, but we do know that Camp Half-Blood has been rebuilt and a “next generation” of demigods will be fulfilling their own prophecy:

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

The first book in the series, The Lost Hero, is available for pre-order on Amazon for $12.81  (hardcover). It will be released October 12, 2010.

By now everyone has seen the general Percy Jackson and the Olympian The Lightning Thief poster with Percy in the water holding up the lightning bolt. However, Amazon has over 70 Percy Jackson posters, most of which I have never even seen! No matter who your favorite Percy Jackson character is, you should be able to find a poster.
