It’s been almost 2 years since we first heard from Rick Riordan himself that Disney would be adapting Percy Jackson and the Olympians for a Disney+ Series. In the meantime, we’ve been getting very few updates, the last one coming in June 14 that the pilot script was written and they were looking for a director.

Once again, Riordan has taken to the Internet to update Percy Jackson fans about the status of the series. In the video below, released January 25, 2022, Riordan reassures that the series is moving forward. Although he again doesn’t give a lot of details, he states that James Bobin is on board as the pilot director. Bobin recently directed the pilot of “The Mysterious Benedict Society,” also on Disney+. Bobin has also written for or directed shows such as “Muppets Most Wanted” and “Da Ali G Show.”

We’ll stay on the lookout for more information about the series, including casting news. IMDB shows a release date for 2023.
